ChristSites awards are given to those sites that go far beyond the boundaries of an ordinary web site. When you list your site with ChristSites.com, our reviewers look it over to make sure it is appropriate for our site. Occassionally, one of our reviewers will nominate it for an award. When this happens, we look it over for such things as: Content, Design, Technology, Originality, and Overall Impression. If you score more than 50/100, we give you a rating. Now, you might look at that and say, "50/100? That is too easy!". Well, mark our words... To score 50/100 (3 star rating), your site is going to have to make us turn our heads. To score over 80/100 (4.5 star rating), your site will have to knock us off our chairs. And to score over 90 (5 star rating) ... well, let's just say, you would have to be in the top 1% of Christian sites.
One thing that we want to be sure of, is that this does not become a "prideful" thing. If your site is awarded a rating, it would probably be best to thank God rather than boasting to your friends. The sole purpose in doing these awards is that your site would be recognized as one of the most "God-Glorified Sites on the Net"!
If you submit your site to ChristSites and you do not receive an award (within 10 weeks), don't frown. It is very possible that we missed your site, or that one of our reviewers missed all of the great stuff on your site. Please do not submit your site again. Instead, wait 6 months from the time you first posted your site at ChristSites.com, at which point you may contact us. In the email, state that you are re-applying for an award, along with the name of your site and the web site address (URL).
In saying all that, let's get on with the program. When we decide whether or not your site should be given an award, we are REALLY looking for originality. Originality in content, originality in design, and so on. The following is a breakdown of how we rate your site.
Content (/25)
Is there a lot of useful information on your site? Is your content original, or are you borrowing it from other sites? Does your site do more boasting about yourself, or does your site REALLY glorify God?
Design (/20)
Does the design of your site look different from all the other sites out there? Is there good use of graphics, pictures, layout, etc.? Does your site stand out from the rest? Is the design clean, or is it scattered all over the place?
Technology (/20)
Do you make good use of new technology on your site? Example: CGIs, RealAudio, RealVideo, Dynamic Pages (ASP, CFM, etc.), DHTML, Javascript, Java, Active X, etc.
Originality (/25)
Is your site original, or is it a copy of someone else's? Do you use new techniques, or are you doing things that a million people have already done? Are you using your own writing, or are you borrowing it? Is your site in detail, or is it a one-pager?
Overall Impression (/10)
Our overall impression of your site. When we take all the aspects of your site and put them into one basket, this is what we get.
Total Score (/100)
After we add all of the (above) scores up, we will get a result out of 100. The following is a list of scores and the amount of stars you would receive if you got that score.
